BACCARAT 2018 – Large Scale Game

For the second year, the 4th Air Combat Brigade (4e Brigade d’Aérocombat – BAC) of the French Army (Armée de Terre) organized the large-scale exercise „Baccarat 2018“ from September 17 until 28 in the Champagne-Ardenne region in northeastern France.

It was an exercise to practise the tactics of aerocombat in a free field of 4000km² around the training camps of Mailly, Suippes, Sissonne and Mourmelon. That allowed the commitment of a large volume of forces with more than 1400 participants and 50 helicopters in the framework of a high-intensity conflict.

Most of the helicopters operated from the disused airfield Vouziers-Séchault, 30 miles (50km) east of Reims. The airfield was reactivated during the exercise like also last year.
